Japanese Black Pine, Session I

We will cover all aspects of Japanese Black Pine care and maintenance. This is the first of a three part series that takes place throughout the year in spring, summer and fall. It is recommended that you take all three in order to understand the annual cycle of Japanese Black Pine care. Tools to bring include a sharp pair of shears, straight tweezers, concave pruners and if your tree needs repotting bring a bonsai pot or several to choose from, good bonsai soil, repotting shears, bent tweezers, root rakes, root cutters, wire cutters, screen and aluminum wire. We have some of these items available for sale or to borrow if needed.

You are welcome to bring more than one tree; as much work will be completed as time permits. Those students that have completed all three sessions of study may return to continue to advance their refinement techniques.

The class starts promptly at 9:00 AM so please arrive early. We will begin with an in depth lecture followed by hands on work. The workshop is all day with a break for lunch. You may join us in ordering lunch or feel free to bring your own. The cost of the workshop is $75 – prepayment in full reserves your spot as classroom size is limited. If a reservation is cancelled with less than one week notice, and we are unable to fill the seat, a refund may not be provided.
